At this time of year, residents of Berea are accustomed to receiving a brown paper grocery bag delivered to their doorstep by CELTS student leaders and volunteers, with information about the annual Hunger Hurts Food Drive, coordinated for 28 years by CELTS, in collaboration with – and to benefit – the Berea Food Bank. It’s a huge community-wide effort that many of you support, and it annually results in generous community members donating hundreds of bags of non-perishable food, which stock the shelves of the Berea Food Bank as we move into the holiday season and colder weather.
This year, the Hunger Hurts Food Drive will look different. There will be no food collection, but we want to let you know that the Berea Food Bank continues to service our community during this time of expanded needs, with expanded services. Even though the Food Bank can’t accept donated food items at this time, you can still support their work to address hunger in our community.
You can support the Food Drive and the Berea Food Bank! Here’s how:
Your monetary donation to the Berea Food Bank will help address emergency food needs in southern Madison County.
Send your check to: Berea Food Bank, 108 Parkway Avenue, Berea, KY 40403
or make a secure donation at: www.bereaoutreach.org
To participate in this year’s Food Drive, please add “2020 Hunger Hurts Food Drive” on your check or in the special instructions line on the website.
See the flyer and attached accessible text for more information about the work of the Berea Food Bank and how you can be part of the 2020 Hunger Hurts Food Drive.
