The Life and Death of Democracy: Lessons for America

Dr. Daniel Ziblatt

Is American democracy at risk today? Dr. Ziblatt, a government professor at Harvard University and director of the Transformations of Democracy research unit at the Berlin Social Science Center, is the author most recently of How Democracies Die (2018). In his talk, Dr. Ziblatt will draw on historical and contemporary examples of democratic crises worldwide to explore threats to contemporary American democracy and reflect on ways out of the current predicament.
