Tree Powered: Forests, Flooding, and Community in Appalachian History and Beyond
October 12, 2022 @ 5:45 pm – 7:00 pm EDT

Join us for Dinner and Conversation with Kathryn Newfont, Expert in Appalachian Forest History.
Dinner will be served by 5:45 pm and talk will begin at 6:00 pm.
“Like we humans, trees find strength in community. Nowhere is this point more evident than in the Appalachian region, where human and forest communities have long partnered. Forest and flooding history, in particular, demonstrates a tightly linked relationship between forest and human well-being. Using Appalachian history as a lens, this presentation explores ‘tree power’ in relation to pressing contemporary local and global issues such as flooding, fire, resilient economies, and ecological and human health.” ~Dr. Newfont
