In 1998, Saint John’s Abbey and University commissioned renowned calligrapher Donald Jackson to produce a hand-written, hand-illuminated Bible. The Saint John’s Bible is the first completely handwritten and illuminated Bible commissioned by a Benedictine abbey since the 1450s. Berea College is fortunate to own one of only 299 Heritage Edition full-size fine art reproduction sets of this monumental work. Every Monday at 3:00 PM Hutchins Library invites the campus community and the public to explore the seven volumes of the St. John’s Bible up close and hands-on. (Group tours can be scheduled at other times by contacting Tim Binkley binkleyt@berea.edu.)
