Conservatives on the Quad

October 21, 2021 @ 3:00 pm

Jonathan Marks event head

Dr. Jonathan Marks

It’s true what they say: left-liberals rule our colleges and universities. Yet it wasn’t so long ago that the conservative quarrel with higher education could be described as a lover’s quarrel. Today, we have a nasty break-up, and the dominant strain in contemporary conservatism is more keen on murdering its ex than to try to win them back. In his talk, Dr. Marks, a political science professor at Ursinus College in Pennsylvania, will argue that conservatives should not give up on liberal education, whose aim is to shape reasonable people. Marks is the author most recently of Let’s be Reasonable: A Conservative Case for Liberal Education.
