bhc Student Activist Series

Dayjha Carter Hogg is a current senior at Berea College double majoring in Child and Family Studies and Peace and Social Justice. Dayjha is from a small town in Kentucky called Letcher County, raised by a white mother and an African-American father, though primarily by her mother and her side of the family. Her childhood was surrounded by a predominantly white Letcher County and an approximately 99% white student population in her schools. In 2020, at the height of the Black Lives Matter movement, she organized a protest in her town and the city of Whitesburg, KY. Given her activist background and concerns for the racial liberty of many, she hopes to share her experience and offer tips for those who plan to organize, lead, and become supporting activists.
