During the backdrop of the Kentucky Cave Wars of the early 1900s, one man was trying to make his make on the caving business. Floyd Collins, a seasoned caver, was sure he could find a system to rival Mammoth Cave. That drive, and natural human curiosity, led him to a fateful excursion to Sand Cave which would prove to be his downfall. As the state – and the nation – fixed their eyes on Sand Cave, a landmark moment of history laced itself into Kentucky’s timeline.
